The Troy-Bilt TB120C is a no-frills push mower designed for homeowners with smaller yards who want a simple, straightforward machine at an accessible price point of $379. Its most practical feature is the Troy-Bilt 163cc engine with AutoChoke technology, meaning there is no priming and no choke lever to deal with before starting. You simply pull the cord and go, which is a genuine convenience that owners who have used it successfully consistently praise. The 21-inch steel deck runs Troy-Bilt’s TriAction cutting system and handles all three cutting modes, side discharge, mulching, and rear bagging, with the mulch plug and a 1.9-bushel dust-blocking bag included right out of the box.
Adjustability is handled through a dual-lever, 6-position height system covering a range of 1.25 to 3.75 inches, giving you enough flexibility for different grass types and seasonal conditions. The adjustable loop handle and S-Wave tread wheels help with control and stability during operation, and the overall package is light and easy to maneuver around tight spaces typical of smaller residential lots. It is a push-only mower with no self-propelled drive, which keeps the design simple and the price low, but does mean it requires more physical effort on larger or hilly properties.
At $379 and backed by a 2-year limited warranty, the TB120C targets buyers who want the lowest possible cost of entry into gas-powered push mowing. However, the customer reviews tell a mixed story, with only 40% of reviewers recommending it and several reporting reliability issues after a single season. It is best suited for very light, flat lawn use, and buyers who want something more dependable over the long term may want to consider investing a bit more for a higher-rated model.
